quarantined-ish day 32
Quarantined-ish Day 32
Saturday, April 18, 2020 - OKC, OK
7:04am
Draper trails for a change of scenery. It’s just me, a deer, and a squished snake. Ten-ish miles to the beat of Good Mornin’ Good MORNin’ with the occasional heel-clicking jumps, and I now empathize with Schumann even more. Thanks, COVID. I mean, Contagion. I think I’ve learned the Good Morning lesson, now.
9:42am
Completely underdressed for the run after having looked at the wrong day’s weather. I go home mid run for a hot shower because staying doesn’t matter because all of the races are canceled because THANKS COVID. Clean and warm, I put on new running clothes and am overdressed. Of course.
12:45pm
Finished out the rest of my run at Bluff, where I’m meeting my yogi friends for an outdoor, socially distanced practice. We do a few handstands and drink beer for the next four and a half hours in the name of yoga.
most notably in the wild conversations:
*on the new normal we are living
Gina (unaware of what she’s saying as she leads into a story): You know when you’re in quarantine, and you….?
me: You just said that like it is as normal as being in your kitchen.
Gina (laughing uncontrollably): I didn’t even hear myself!
me: Pause like that. I’m going to take a picture and make a meme.
me again: Actually, I don’t know how to make a meme, but this picture is fantastic
6:02pm
I meet Lisa for an outdoor glass of wine that turns into two. I can’t think of the last time I had four drinks in one day and am amazed/relieved I feel sober. Still, I sit there until 10:30 before going home. It’s past my bedtime, but when you’re an insomniac, bedtime is irrelevant. Besides, a little not-really-lost sleep is an okay trade-off for not killing someone on my way home.
